Process

Taking on a home renovation project is a big endeavor. When you work with Wolfe Design Build, we streamline the entire process. The design-build model includes the planning, design and construction all under one contract and one company – Wolfe Design Build. This approach is both time saving and cost effective.

Below is an outline of our process. We spend a lot of time at the beginning of a project doing schematic design, cost estimating, and project development. By the time we are ready for construction, we are well prepared for a successful project.

Step 1

Schematic Design

We start by listening to your goals and aspirations for the project. We ask a lot of questions. We want to fully understand your motivations and the results you wish to achieve. You, the client, are at the center of our process and we want to deliver transformative spaces at the highest level!

After the schematic design agreement is signed, we ask you for inspirational images, magazine clippings, or pictures that resonate with your style. This will help us to understand your overall tastes and vibe for the new space. We discuss budget ranges and get comfortable with the cost of your investment.

We come to your home to measure and draw plans of your existing conditions. We create a scope document that will prioritize your goals and functional needs for the project.  This becomes the roadmap for your design.

 

With the necessary information gathered we start the creative design work. We aim to solve both your practical needs as well as bring beauty to your new spaces.  We design using a computer generated 3-D model which allows you to virtually walk through and fully visualize the new layout.

This model will be a the most significant tool to allow you to envision and immerse yourself in the potential transformation of your home!

At this stage we collect design feedback and choose one design direction to develop further into a schematic pricing set. We meet to review the cost range in order to get comfortable with the budget prior to moving ahead to the next step.

Step 2

Pre-Construction Planning

After the construction agreement is signed, we begin planning for a successful building experience. During this step, we refine the schematic design into a permit and construction set of plans. We make critical finish selections such as tile and cabinet colors. We begin to purchase and order materials that have longer lead times such as cabinets, appliances, windows, doors, etc.

Many of our clients live in the home while construction is happening. This is the time we can help advise on where a temporary kitchen can be located if necessary and the best way to live through your construction project. Everyone on our team understands that this is your home and it is our job to make the experience as comfortable as possible.

Step 3

Construction

Your project will begin with an onsite meeting where we will discuss dust control, protections, dumpster location, and any administrative items that we need to be aware of (ie “don’t let the cat out!”).

During the construction phase you can expect to have regular communications with your project manager and lead carpenter. You will meet highly skilled and respectful craftsmen who will leave the work area clean. We perform regular quality inspections especially at critical path installations (such as electrical or plumbing installations).

Our goal is to make the construction process easy. We do this through proactive updates and minimal interruptions to your life.

Step 4

Enjoy the Transformation!

After construction is complete, it is time to move in and enjoy your beautiful new space. We stand behind our work and provide an industry leading warranty period. We will visit with you and inspect our work and if any issues arise, we will respond in a timely manner.
