We absolutely love this home renovation project in Swampscott’s historic district.

Our clients initially came to us to renovate their kitchen and mudroom. They also wanted to try and find space to add a primary suite and closet space. At first, we tried to squeeze all of that into the existing house. However, through exploration and many conversations, it was determined that they needed to add space to make the home work best for their family.

Our design was a three-story addition that included a new kitchen and mudroom on the first floor, a primary bathroom and closet on the second floor, and an office on the third floor. We also added a deck that spans the entire back of the house.

Our clients love their home and neighborhood and chose to renovate instead of move. This is a frequent conversation we have with potential clients. We help guide you to the best decision for you and your family.

Since this 100-year-old home is in the historic district of Swampscott, we had to gain approval from the Swampscott Historical Commission. Our team led that effort and once we had approval, the project was off and running.

Before a new foundation could be poured, we had to demo the existing porch and break apart the rock ledge. From there, we framed the addition and added new siding, windows, roof, insulation, and walls. The addition fit right into the original footprint, it looked like it had always been there.

Laura worked with our clients to select all of the finishes including custom cabinets, flooring, tile, paint colors, countertops, and lights. Since we added so many rooms, she ensured that the selections coordinated with the rest of the house.

The finished product is stunning and our clients are so happy with their new spaces.
